Job Overview The project involves the construction and fit‑out of the HS2 SCS headhouse and ventilation‑shaft infrastructure, forming part of the wider high‑speed rail route that will ultimately enhance connections between London and the Midlands. The headhouse and shaft complexes provide critical ventilation, smoke extraction, emergency access and operational support for the HS2 tunnels.
Job Summary This position works with and supports the Head of Construction Assurance and the Construction Teams to ensure that all works delivered by VVB are executed in accordance with SWI 550 Technical Assurance, SWI 500 Quality Management, and the VVB Technical Assurance and Quality Management Plans. As part of VVB’s Quality and Assurance Team, you will oversee quality planning, inspection regimes, progressive assurance and handover documentation across Mechanical, Public Health and Low‑Voltage distribution systems.
Key duties include developing ITPs, producing Quality Record Packs, digital inspection of works, managing commissioning documentation, generating Commissioning Lots for all systems, and developing the IRN Schedule aligned with ITPs and the construction/commissioning programme. All quality documentation—including check sheets, test results, inspection evidence and workflow approvals—is managed digitally in Asite. The role includes tracking, managing and supporting the closure of Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and, depending on workload, supporting broader project assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all systems (MEP/PH/LV) covering both construction and commissioning phases.
Ensure ITPs follow all relevant project requirements, industry standards, codes and regulations.
Produce and maintain the IRN Schedule, ensuring all Inspection Request Numbers align with the ITPs and overall programme.
Collect and compile assurance documentation to support progressive quality evidence.
Manage all ITP‑related documents digitally, ensuring full traceability of check sheets, test results and approvals within Asite.
Ensure all Quality Record Packs are complete, verified and compliant prior to submission.
Produce Commissioning Lots for all relevant systems, ensuring traceability, test evidence and integration with commissioning activities.
Build Installation Certificate Packs, Standalone Commissioning Packs and Integrated Commissioning Packs.
Monitor the quality of installation works throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with quality procedures and support progressive assurance.
Monitor and report against a programme of assurance, installation quality and asset condition checks.
Attend Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) and support associated evidence gathering.
Provide technical support and guidance to site personnel on quality assurance, design compliance and statutory requirements.
Participate in coordination meetings, design reviews and training sessions as required.
Manage Snag Lists and Outstanding Works Lists, driving closure and compliance.
Track, review and support the resolution and closure of NCRs, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Escalate recurring issues and contribute to root‑cause analysis to support continuous improvement.
Use Asite as the central platform for all internal quality communications, documentation, check sheets, ITP evidence and approval workflows.
Ensure that all check sheets are completed digitally with full traceability, version control and audit history.
Ensure timely uploading, review and acceptance of all assurance evidence.
Qualifications Electrical, mechanical or communications installation qualifications. The role requires regular travel to sites and offices as and when required.
