Summary We are an innovative and market leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the utility sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.
The team supporting ESGs CRM/Billing system is growing and we are looking for passionate, driven, and talented people to join us in our journey in providing the best in breed systems for energy suppliers to service their customers. ESG are specifically looking for an energy business analyst with I&C experience. As a business analyst on our team, you will be involved in all areas of the development cycle within our sprint teams covering everything from new features, industry change, defect management and client roadmap deliveries.
Position Responsibilities
Develop clear and detailed functional requirements in the form of user stories for developers and test analysts across multiple operational sprint teams, covering enhancements to existing products, defect fixes, and the introduction of new features.
Contribute and share your I&C knowledge and expertise to support and strengthen the team's capabilities.
Provide industry expertise and documentation to ESG in their software development and provide interpretation of industry compliance requirements to ESG.
Provide expertise and support to both teams internal to ESG across products and external clients using ESG software solutions.
Serve as a primary point of contact for colleagues and clients and wider ESG functions, interpreting and translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable functional requirements for the CRM/Billing sprint teams.
Manage and prioritise requirements against industry, customer and internal expectations and deadlines.
Effectively communicate requirements to the wider business and stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with developers and test analysts to troubleshoot and resolve requirement-related issues, including conflicts in functionality, dependencies, and timelines.
Review testing and technical documentation against requirements before delivery is signed off.
Create and maintain product guides and user documentation.
Occasionally deliver training sessions to colleagues and clients on CRM and pricing and billing functionality, including updates and new features.
Collaborate with the Product Owner to maintain a cohesive backlog of prioritized work items for the team that meet the definition of ready.
Report on progress including checkpoints in delivery and/or blockers during product delivery.
Understand, participate and occasionally lead in the internal change control process.
Understand the importance of quality control.
Work to deadlines for fixes and create a backlog of roadmap items.
Essential Position Qualifications
Experience in I&C/Business energy practices including pricing and billing.
Experience within the energy sector in particular pricing and billing.
Experience using and/or designing CRM functions.
Desirable Qualifications
Any applicable Business Analyst qualifications such as BSC Certificate in Business Analyst Practice.
Understanding of energy industry change, in particular Market Wide Half Hourly.
Experience working directly with developers and test analysts on product development and delivery.
Experience in eliciting requirements and leading refinement sessions.
Understanding and knowledge of smart meter operations and how this applies to billing.
Understanding and knowledge of domestic energy supply, including prepayment operations.
Experience working with 3rd party clients/agents.
Experience working in a fast-paced agile software development environment and tools such as Jira.
