Our bustling New York City, New York facility is searching for a diligent Shipping & Receiving Associate to manage the flow of goods in and out of our warehouse. This role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that incoming shipments are accurately received, inspected, and stored, and that outgoing orders are processed efficiently and correctly. You will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively. A keen eye for detail is essential to verify shipments against purchase orders and to identify any discrepancies or damages. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment is paramount. You will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on the dock or in the warehouse. This position involves significant physical activity, including frequent lifting and moving of packages. We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong work ethic who can contribute to the smooth functioning of our distribution center. Experience in logistics or warehouse environments is highly preferred. Your role is critical in managing inventory levels and ensuring timely dispatch of goods. Responsibilities:
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and document any discrepancies.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or defects.
- Safely and efficiently operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling orders accurately.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts.
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external carriers.
- Support overall logistics operations and contribute to efficiency improvements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations.
- Valid forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and operate in a physically demanding role.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
