We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator for our Des Moines, Iowa warehouse. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, moving materials to and from production or storage areas, and assisting with inventory control. A strong commitment to safety is paramount, and you will be expected to adhere to all operational guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Experience with various forklift types and a thorough understanding of warehouse logistics and safety procedures are essential. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to transport materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload goods from trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.
- Move materials to and from designated storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Inspect forklift equipment daily and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free from obstructions.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Support the logistics team in achieving operational targets and maintaining workflow.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Forklift Operator.
- Valid forklift certification (e.g., OSHA compliant).
- Proficiency in operating sit-down, stand-up, and reach forklifts.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Strong understanding of forklift safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Commitment to safety and the consistent use of PPE.
