Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The 2nd Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards set by Muskoka Bay Resort. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals to our customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- May act as lead cook on the line in preparing meals to order in a timely fashion.
- Maintain care of equipment using preventative maintenance techniques.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times using proper food handling and storage procedures.
- In conjunction with the Chef and Sous Chef, review menu cycles and check supplies needed for all meals and special events
- Uphold high quality menu options that meet and exceed expectations
- Must be available to work all shifts
- Practice hygienic food-handling, preparation and serving techniques.
- Prepare a variety of goods and items needed for special events.
- Ensure team is working together.
- Ensure that all prep work and products are lined up for upcoming production.
- Complete food tracking worksheets when necessary.
- Maintain commitment to excellence in carrying out production responsibilities.
- Work with Sous Chef and Chef in supervising, receiving all goods and their proper storage.
- Organize coolers daily ensuring all items are wrapped, labeled and dated.
Skills, AbilitIes, attributes
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and kitchen equipment operation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Passion for food and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences to customers.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A culinary degree or certification, or working towards is a plus, but not required.
- Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service establishment.
