The CNC Shop Team Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing daily operations in the CNC machining department. This role supports production goals by setting up and operating various CNC machines, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality, efficient machining practices. The Team Lead also serves as the point of contact when the Machine Shop Supervisor is unavailable. As the Team Lead, you will be leading a team of 8 machinists/operators.

2:10 PM - 10:40 PM
Requirements
- Interpret complex manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.
- Set up and operate a range of CNC machines, including:
- Okuma MB5000H
- Mazak QTN 350-II
- Mazak VCN-530C
- Doosan MX2500 LST
- Train and mentor both new and existing machinists to ensure consistent work quality and safety.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and calibration on CNC equipment and tooling.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine CNC machining issues to maintain production flow.
- May perform CNC programming tasks to support afternoon shift needs.
- Execute daily production plans as directed by scheduling and leadership.
- Work independently while adhering to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Monitor and report on daily department performance and production metrics.
- Ensure all required paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate additional support as required.
- Provide leadership coverage and act as the department lead in the absence of the CNC Supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Education and Experience
- Proven ability to perform all tasks required of CNC team members, with a strong understanding of machining processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Must hold and maintain all necessary certifications and licenses required for CNC operations.
- Completion of formal training in a relevant trade.
- Red Seal Journeyperson Machinist certification or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist.
- Preferred: At least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques, including 5S, Kanban, and One-Piece Flow.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
