Introduction
Brunel is seeking a Material Control Technician to support site operations by ensuring accurate replenishment, receipt, staging, and delivery of materials in a safe and efficient manner. This role is critical for maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting and supporting end users with timely material handling.
Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and accurately receive stock and non-stock purchase orders for the Corunna site; inspect materials for defects or quality issues.
- Complete transactions and maintain accurate material locations in SAP.
- Distribute credit card orders and provide fast, courteous service to end users requesting materials.
- Perform daily cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and reconcile inventory balances.
- Pick and stage materials for work orders/OWL and deliver materials across the site using van or forklift.
- Return unused materials to stock and maintain bulk storage, laydown, and remote storage areas.
- Collaborate with Customs Compliance for shipping materials, including repaired items and capital spares, in accordance with site procedures and regulations.
- Keep a clean, safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
- Rotate through warehouse areas per schedule and interface with stakeholders, procurement, and expediting for troubleshooting.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and safety meetings; complete monthly Responsible Care observations.
- Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies and encourage safe work practices.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Business, CITT, APICS, PMAC, or equivalent experience; or high school with 5+ years warehouse experience.
- Strong computer skills; experience in shipping and receiving.
- Forklift certification and ability to operate warehouse equipment (hand truck, pallet jack).
- Valid driver’s license.
- SAP experience preferred; proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to lift up to 22.5 kg.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
