Job Summary
Roofmart’s National Support Centre in Brampton, ON provides shared service support to multiple branches and legal entities across Canada. As a key part of the leadership team, the Finance Manager is critical to our team’s ability to deliver accurate, timely and relevant financial information to drive business decisions.
Managing a team of Senior Financial Analysts and Accountants, the Finance Manager directs the group’s efforts in completing month end reporting and analysis, providing support and partnering with the Operations team, identifying opportunities for process improvements and ensuring a sound internal control environment through our business.
The Finance Manager reports to the Finance Director while interacting directly with senior Operations leadership.

Responsibilities
- Active management of 7 direct reports within the Finance team, ensuring proper delegation of work and adjusting priorities in order to consistently meet deliverable timelines
- Provide leadership, support and mentorship to team members to further their professional growth and development
- Manage the month end process, ensuring financial and operational reporting is completed accurately and timely for 60+ locations across 9 legal entities.
- Ensure the team meets agreed upon deliverable timelines, including month/quarter end reporting, business planning and weekly/monthly operational reporting requirements
- Lead the year end audit and tax reporting processes
- Monitor the team’s progress and work efforts, ensuring the underlying accounts are accurate and up to date as well as ensuring accuracy in any reporting deliverables. Ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Identify and effectively address performance concerns of any team members
- Foster culture of accountability, both within the Finance team as well as Operations teams as needed
- Identify and collaborate with business colleagues to improve process efficiencies across the organization
- Ensure internal controls are in place, identifying areas of potential concerns
- Monitor and review operational processes, providing feedback and guidance to operations teams with varying degrees of financial acumen
- Provide accounting guidance as needed, knowing when to consult with others to identify potential concerns
Authority
- Require adherence to accounting and company policies
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Supervisory capacity – manage or reassign team members’ workload, ability to hire/fire and address behaviour or performance concerns through disciplinary actions
Performance Measure
- Reliable delivery of timely, accurate financial and operational statements
- Identification of continuous process improvements
- Effective in actively managing a team with common goals to ensure appropriate work distribution and alignment with skill set
- Ability to identify and effectively address any performance issues
- Able to effectively prioritize deliverables and adjust workload as needed, including adjusting resourcing levels where required
Skills and Experience
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), designation obtained
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Minimum 3 years managing teams in large organizations with competing priorities
- Proven experience at a minimum 3-4 years of full cycle accounting
- Experience in retail/distribution accounting
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Self starter with proven record of working to and delivering on deadlines
- Experience working with ERP systems (Prophet 21, MS Dynamics an asset)
- Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, VLookups)
