Project XIII Inc has partnered with a leading residential and commercial construction firm. Our partner is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team.

The location for this role is on-site at their Ottawa location.

About the Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with various power and hand tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all machinery operates safely and effectively, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
• Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
• Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed for equipment repair or modification
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs accurately
• Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure proper function

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership or industrial repair background preferred
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar, HVAC systems, automotive repair, and schematics interpretation
• Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and other heavy equipment
• Proficiency in welding, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and use of hand tools and power tools

Salary Range

$60,000 – $90,000 based on experience.
