What You'll Do Conceptualize, design, and detail mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks for automation cells, robotic end effectors Perform tolerance analysis, FEA simulations, and material selection to ensure robustness under real world dynamic conditions Collaborate closely with electrical and controls engineers to size and select actuators, sensors and vision systems Build and test prototypes in our in-house engineering lab, get your hands dirty creating proof of concept test systems Contribute fresh ideas in concept reviews and brainstorming sessions for new projects Work with the machine shop to create and release your creations for fabrication Participate in assembly and debug of systems on our production floor and learn firsthand what it takes to build an automation system and all the nuances of good machine design Travel with the machine to the various Giga factories across the US to install and commission your machines. This could be a 24-7 weekend sprint for an upgrade, a small install, or a 3-month installation of a massive new production line What You'll Bring Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs from concepts Proficiency in using solid modeling CAD design software Hands on experience with prototyping (3D printing, machining, hobby projects) Humility and decisiveness: Humility to ask and learn from everyone.
