Our Detroit, Michigan distribution center is seeking experienced Forklift Operators to join our dedicated team. As a Forklift Operator, you will be instrumental in moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. Your role is vital to the efficiency and safety of our logistics operations. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious professional with a proven track record of operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) to move and stage materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
- Store inventory accurately in designated racking or floor locations.
- Perform pre-operational checks on forklift equipment and report any defects.
- Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring clear pathways and adherence to safety standards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Meet productivity and performance targets.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Valid forklift operator certification (e.g., OSHA compliant).
- Proficiency in handling various types of palletized materials.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and logistics best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
