*Position Overview: *JDS Energy & Mining (JDS) is recruiting a licensed Heavy-Duty Mechanic for Underground and Surface Mining Equipment Maintenance to work in JDS’s 13,000 sq ft Prince George rebuild shop. The position will support in complete rebuilds and inter-project maintenance on underground mining equipment including but not limited to,
* Jumbos
* Bolters (Ro / Maclean)
* Scoop Trams (2yd, 6yd, 8yd)
* Haul Trucks (22t, 45t)
* Scissor Decks and Boom Trucks
* Ancillary equipment (shotcrete machines, grout pumps, jacklegs/stopers)
* Surface Tower Drills
* Surface Pioneering Drills
This position will also be exposed to opportunities for field assignments based out of the Prince George to nearby site locations. The recently constructed Prince George shop includes the following services:
* 10 ton overhead traveling crane with access to 100% of the floor space;
* Multi-bay pull through arrangement with 4x 16’ wide rollup doors;
* Floor drains;
* Natural gas heating;
* Office mezzanine;
* Lockers and showers;
The work schedule will be 10-hour day/night shift working Monday through Friday. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with the rebuild and inter-project maintenance of Underground Mining Equipment under the direction of a Lead Mechanic / Shop Foreman.
Principal duties include:
* Ensure all equipment is maintained and rebuilt to maintain forecasted availability, to the highest safety and mechanical standards.
* Inspect equipment for proper performance and detect faults/malfunctions to determine the extent of any repair that is required
* Perform preventative, planned, and unplanned maintenance, repair, overhaul, troubleshoot, and test mechanical and electronic equipment
* Conduct performance and quality inspections according to procedure
* Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity
* Maintain records in accordance with company policies
* Promote safety awareness – ensure no harm to people, environment, assets or reputation
* Conduct business professionally, ethically and practically.
The successful applicants will ideally have the following qualifications:
* 5 + years’ experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic;
* 2 + years troubleshooting / rebuilding Underground Mining Equipment;
* Competency with analyzing, diagnosing and repairing complex Electrical and Hydraulic systems;
* Knowledge of Canbus Systems, Top Hammer Drilling, and Shotcrete Machines
* Previous experience with computerized jumbos is preferred: Epiroc/Atlas Copco M2C, 282, Maclean Scissor Bolter, Atlas Copco Simba 1254, Boart Stopemaster, Cat R1600, Cat R1700, Cat R2900, Auxiliary Support equipment, compressors, Toyota Landcruisers
* Previous experience on Surface Mining equipment preferred: Sandvik Ranger Drills, Surface Tower Drills
* Previous welding experience will be considered an asset
All candidates must be willing to undergo mandatory drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
