NLC is a mutual insurance company that has been writing property and casualty insurance in New England for over 150 years. We are a progressive company seeking an energetic and skilled Database Administrator and Developer. The candidate will ensure the availability and security of our data and reporting platforms, and build reporting solutions to support business initiatives. This is a hybrid role based out of our companys Norwich, CT location. Responsibilities Design, develop and enhance the Corporate Data Warehouse. Generate and maintain document artifacts related to design, development, support, and maintenance of database initiatives. Determine database requirements for projects, ensure compliance with database strategies, translate detailed design into physical database structures, and perform testing. Provide production support for database systems, enforce corporate standards for disaster recovery, data retention, and security, and monitor industry standards. Perform database management tasks, including backing up and restoring databases to ensure data accessibility. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and customize reports to support business goals and drive data?driven decision making. Develop data?driven reports, create Power BI dashboards, and design datasets to provide actionable insights for business decisions. Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience. Minimum 3 years of experience as a database administrator on SQL Server 2012 or newer. Minimum 3 years of experience in report writing. Extensive working experience with the Microsoft database and reporting technology stack. Experience with programming and data warehouse design is a strong plus. Experience collaborating with business, development and QA teams in a process?oriented organization. Knowledge or experience in Guidewire is a plus. Knowledge or experience with SAP is a plus.
