The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible and accountable for all restaurant activities, and assumes complete responsibility for the restaurant as necessary when the GM is absent. The AGM works to ensure that all activities are consistent with and supportive of the restaurant's business plan and the vision of the GM. The AGM ensures all employees are performing their job responsibilities and meeting expectations.
Deliverables
Achieve Top Line Revenue Goals
- Drive sales through genuine hospitality, elevated guest experiences, and consistent delivery of high-quality products.
- Partner with the leadership team to identify and implement strategies that grow beverage and overall sales.
- Maintain an engaged, knowledgeable front-of-house team through ongoing coaching and training to ensure exceptional service standards.
Deliver Budgeted Prime Cost Goals
- Collaborate with the General Manager to meet or exceed FOH labor targets while maintaining strong operational execution.
- Analyze weekly and monthly financial reports to proactively address variances and identify opportunities for improvement.
Deliver Guest Satisfaction
- Consistently provide a high-quality product and exceptional service experience that ensures complete guest satisfaction from start to finish.
- Maintain a Resy guest rating of 4.5 or higher, reflecting outstanding hospitality and overall experience.
- Achieve 90% or above on all secret shopper evaluations, demonstrating excellence in service standards and team performance.
- Model and foster a warm, welcoming, and positive environment for both guests and staff.
- Lead by example, upholding company values and ensuring all team members deliver consistent hospitality standards.
- Actively engage with guests on the floor to build relationships, gather feedback, and drive repeat visitation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The AGM consistently provides a quality product and customer service experience that delivers complete guest satisfaction from start to finish. They model and create a positive environment that's warm and welcoming.
- The AGM assists the GM in responding positively and quickly to guest inquiries and concerns. They correct potential problems as soon as they arise in hopes to remedy a situation swiftly and proactively. This includes issues that come up both during and after service (receipt copy requests, donation requests, neighbor complaints, fielding complaints/feedback, etc.)
- The AGM assists the GM in hiring high quality people who demonstrate and ensure consistent guest satisfaction, strong work ethic, excellent team skills with knowledge and interest in food and wine. This process includes but is not limited to- posting ads, scheduling and leading interviews, calling references, setting up stages, preparing and updating training schedules, onboarding, orientation and doing new hire check ins.
- The AGM assists the GM in maintaining the restaurant at the level necessary to meet or exceed the company standards for Quality, Service and Cleanliness. The AGM should ensure that the Repair & Maintenance log in Forklift is current, clear, organized and easy to refer back to when facing future problems.
- Assists the GM with maintaining an A grade from the Health Department and keeping up with all Health Department standards. The AGM will do weekly HD walkthroughs and send wrap ups and focus points to all managers. The AGM will correct any issues as They sees them and will keep all departments informed and repairs logged.
- Assists the GM with scheduling and staffing to maintain the highest level of cost effective service. The AGM must have a full understanding of Ctuit and can approve or deny any hourly FOH employee shift switches and time off requests.
- The AGM must have complete knowledge and understanding of the to go and tablet business at Birdie G's. They will assist the GM in platform management including but not limited to-audit of nightly tablet sales, driver communication, feedback on issues that arise with different delivery companies and guest complaints.
- Assists the GM with menu changes and POS management including menu keys, tablet updates, catering and website upkeep and ensuring staff is properly informed and quizzed.
- The AGM must always have an active floor presence and assists the GM with ensuring proper coverage and smooth service despite day or time. This sometimes require the AGM and GM to jump into positions when necessary.
- The AGM scans and codes invoices and ensures this entire process is timely and organized. They must have clear communication with the finance team and be diligent and detailed oriented when catching and correcting any potential errors.
- The AGM is responsible for keeping all rosters and vendor contact lists updated and accurate.
- Assists the GM with monthly wine, coffee and beverage inventory. The AGM also takes the lead on weekly ordering and ensures that the restaurant is always stocked for service with beverage and to go pints of Sweet Rose ice cream.
- The AGM helps the GM with the organization and management of supplies and non-food related inventories. Making sure the store remains stocked with necessary items, such as printer paper and ribbon, plates, flatware, glassware, etc. In addition, the AGM should ensure the office is kept clean and fully stocked with office supplies/tools.
- Assists with payroll when the GM is unavailable and has a full understanding of the stores labor goals and budget. The AGM should review and understand financial information and monthly profit and loss statements and attend monthly P&L meetings. The AGM alongside the GM must run the most efficient and cost effective operation within the annual budget.
- Assists the GM with preparing and leading staff and lead meetings. The AGM continuously improves the skills, knowledge and morale of all employees. They treat the employees with dignity and respect; creates an environment where the entire team does the same.
- High school diploma or equivalent. College Degree preferable. Good verbal and written communication skills; is capable of communicating effectively with customers and co-workers; bi-lingual skills a plus.
• Must have current Manager Level Food Handlers Permit - 3-5 years in management positions (preferably restaurant experience, including full service, fast food or convenience)
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have reliable personal transportation, valid driver's license and proof of insurance Accessibility
- Must have a telephone or other reliable method of communicating with all employees
• Must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - Maintains an open door policy
- Able to work a minimum of 50 hours per week
- Must be able to work flexible hours necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively
- Requires moderate physical effort
- Requires long stretches of standing, occasional carrying, pushing or pulling of items up to 50 lbs in weight
