We are looking for a diligent Material Handler to join our busy warehouse operations in Washington, D.C. This role is essential for the smooth flow of materials throughout the facility. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for moving, storing, and retrieving materials and products efficiently and safely. This includes operating various types of material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and potentially forklifts. A commitment to workplace Safety and the correct use of PPE is mandatory. This position requires physical stamina, as you will be involved in frequent Lifting and moving of materials, often weighing up to 70 pounds. Experience in a Logistics environment is highly beneficial. We pride ourselves on a well-maintained facility and a supportive team atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and into storage locations.
- Transport materials to and from various departments within the warehouse.
- Organize and arrange stored materials for optimal space utilization and accessibility.
- Assist with inventory counts and verification.
- Identify and report damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Follow all established Safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure proper use of required PPE at all times.
- Participate in general warehouse housekeeping duties.
- Support the overall Logistics process by ensuring materials are where they need to be, when they need to be.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment.
- Handle the physical demands of the job, including frequent Lifting and moving of heavy items.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to operate manual and powered material handling equipment.
- Physical strength and endurance to handle frequent Lifting , carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials.
- Understanding of warehouse layout and inventory management principles.
- Knowledge of basic Logistics operations.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace Safety .
- Willingness to wear and use all required PPE .
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
