We are looking for a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our busy logistics hub in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be the central point of contact for preparing and dispatching outgoing shipments. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping documents, verifying shipment contents, and ensuring that all outgoing orders are processed accurately and efficiently. This position is vital to our supply chain operations, ensuring that our products reach their destinations without delay or error. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. You will work closely with warehouse teams and customer service to resolve any shipping-related issues. A thorough understanding of shipping procedures, documentation, and logistics is essential. We are committed to maintaining a safe work environment, and adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE, is mandatory. This role involves some lifting and moving of packages, so a good level of physical fitness is beneficial. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outgoing domestic and international shipments.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and customs documentation.
- Verify shipment contents against orders for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update tracking information.
- Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding shipment status.
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems.
- Ensure packages are properly labeled and secured for transit.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and wear required PPE.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics role is required.
- Familiarity with various shipping carriers and their procedures.
- Proficiency in shipping software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting (up to 30 lbs).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations is a plus.
