About the Role:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support our growing public accounting firm. This role provides day-to-day talent acquisition and retention support to our leadership team and other team members, ensuring smooth operations, strong employee relations, and compliance with Ontario employment legislation.


Key Responsibilities:


Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including position postings, screening, interviews, and reference checks.

- Support firm leaders in developing position descriptions and interview guides.

- Lead the onboarding process, ensuring a positive and structured new team member experience.


Employee Relations & Support

- Act as the first point of contact for talent-related inquiries.

- Guide team members and managers on policies, procedures, and best practices.

- Assist in resolving workplace challenges confidentially and professionally.


HR Administration

- Maintain team member files, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) data, and documentation.

- Firm employee handbook refinement and maintenance.

- Manage team member changes, letters, contracts, and performance documentation.

- Track vacation, leaves of absence, and attendance records.


Compensation & Benefits

- Support benefit administration, enrollments, and team member inquiries.

- Assist with annual salary reviews and compensation benchmarking.


Compliance & Policy Management

- Ensure compliance with Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other relevant legislation.

- Assist with policy updates and internal communication of talent acquisition / retention programs.


Performance & Professional Development

- Coordinate performance review cycles and support leaders with related documentation.

- Support identifying and organizing professional development.

- Supports professional / personal development initiatives outside of technical expertise.


Talent Acquisition and Retention Projects

- Participate in talent acquisition and retention initiatives such as employee engagement, wellness programs, and culture development.

- Support process improvements and talent acquisition and retention analytics/reporting.

- Embrace and engage with talent acquisition and retention projects internally and externally with the firm’s clients.


Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

- CHRP designation or active pursuit is considered an asset.

- 2–4 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a professional services environment.

- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
