What you'll do:As a Product Safety Analytics Intern, you will be a key member of the Geotab Product Safety & Interoperability Team, In this role, you will analyze trends and derive insights related to vehicle safety and telematics device interoperability and cybersecurity. You'll work on real-world data to help uncover potential safety risks, predict failure modes, and contribute to the improvement of our telematics product's integration with various vehicle platforms.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to be an efficient self-starter with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. You're a masterful problem-solver, highly organized, with exceptional communication skills and an excellent ability to build and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
The opportunity:- 12 month work-term beginning May 2026.
- Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

- Analyze structured and unstructured data on device performance, vehicle compatibility, and safety events.
- Identify patterns, trends, and issues in product usage, interoperability, and incident reports.
- Create dashboards and visualizations to share insights with cross-functional teams.
- Assist in developing predictive models to identify early indicators of safety issues.
- Conduct cybersecurity research and support experiments related to CAN Bus breach detection.
- Evaluate data anonymization methods for secure data sharing with OEM partners.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define product safety and performance metrics.
- Perform root cause analyses on anomalous device or vehicle behavior.
- Document analytical processes, findings, and supporting methodologies.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib/Seaborn).
- Knowledge of basic machine learning techniques and statistical analysis methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Passion or interest in automotive technology, IoT, vehicle safety, or telematics systems is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of CAN bus, OBD-II protocols, or general automotive diagnostic data.
- Experience working with large datasets or streaming data (e.g., from sensors or telematics devices).
- Familiarity with data quality assessment, cleaning, and enrichment techniques.
