Overview
The Pastry Production team plays a key role in bringing The Buttery's pastries to life each day. In this role, you'll assist with preparing, scaling, mixing, shaping, baking, and finishing a wide range of pastry items in a high-volume, quality-driven kitchen. You'll follow established recipes and production guides, maintain consistency and accuracy in every batch, and help ensure our pastry program runs smoothly from start to finish.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in craftsmanship. You'll support daily production, contribute to maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and work closely with the pastry team to meet deadlines and uphold The Buttery's standards of quality and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Production: Prepare, proof, and bake a variety of products, following established recipes and production guidelines.
- Time Management: Execute baking schedules to ensure all products are ready for delivery on time without compromising quality.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all baked goods.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate mixers, ovens, proofers, and other baking equipment.
- Organization & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace, adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other bakers and kitchen staff to meet production goals efficiently.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and address any issues during the baking process to ensure quality and timeliness.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of professional baking experience, preferably in bread, viennoiserie, or pastry production.
- Strong understanding of baking processes, including proofing, fermentation, and lamination (preferred but not required).
- Ability to manage time effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A team-oriented mindset and willingness to take direction.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
