We are looking for a talented professional to join our team. The position may be titled Tax Manager or Tax Specialist, depending on your experience and skill set. If your background aligns with either role, we encourage you to apply and let us explore the best fit together.

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Controller, the Tax Manager/Tax Specialist will play an essential role in advising on tax matters, preparing tax provisions, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations. Your role will be critical in ensuring accurate tax reporting, supporting strategic planning initiatives, and liaising effectively with key stakeholders across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the preparation of Canadian and U.S. tax provisions under U.S. GAAP.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors to prepare Canadian and U.S. federal and state/provincial corporate and partnership tax returns as well as other tax reporting requirements.
  • Monitor legislative developments and assess impact on the business.
  • Administer tax sharing agreements.
  • Maintain ACB, E&P and Surplus calculations.
  • Prepare the tax notes and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax budgets and forecasts.
  • Liaise with external auditors.
  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Advise on cross-border transactions and the preparation of transfer pricing policies and documentation.
  • Provide support, advice, guidance and assistance to business units regarding indirect taxes (franchise, gross receipts, sales, use, transfer, property, payroll, production, excise, severance taxes, etc.).
  • Recommend enhancements to the various tax functions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform ad hoc tax related duties as assigned.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

This position has the following occupational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax environment

To excel in this position, we recommend that candidates have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • In depth knowledge of various tax regulations
  • Experience with Tax Fixed Assets (PowerTax) is considered an asset
  • Experience working in a rate regulated environment is considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical matters in clear simple language
  • Strong research, writing, verbal and analytical skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel is required
  • Ability to work independently and in a close team environment
