Position Title: Senior Fund AnalystReports To: AVP, External Fund ManagementDepartment: Investments Term:  Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
 What you will be doing:
Assist the AVP, External Fund Management in coverage of a select group of funds across applicable lines of business to ensure assigned funds are managed within the risk tolerances of Equitable;
Develop a strong understanding of investment themes and characteristics of the funds within your coverage universe including the different investment philosophies and styles which serve as the foundation of the investment strategies, as well as gaining insight into the investment personnel, investment processes and portfolio positioning of each of the mandates;
Build and maintain external relationships with partner firm account managers to help support the ongoing due diligence effort;
Manage the fund monitoring review process including conducting annual fund reviews with the assigned portfolio managers, management of ongoing quarterly investment questionnaires and real-time monitoring of the funds across various media sources and update fund manager research documents as appropriate;
Remain current on capital markets and the broader investment backdrop to ensure a strong understanding of asset class performance and key drivers of market returns;
Contribute to fund searches through identifying potential new funds to add to the current fund line-up.
What you will bring:
Undergraduate or Master's degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Math or MBA and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (or other relevant professional designation, e.g. CIM);
5 - 7 years of investment industry experience preferably on the buy side;
Demonstrates proficiency in the following behavioural attributes:
Strong interpersonal skills;
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely relay information;
Self-starter with demonstrated capability to work independently;
Good organization and time management skills;
Excellent command of MS Excel (or any programming languages is an asset);
Excellent knowledge of the buy-side asset management industry with a working knowledge of portfolio management techniques including portfolio construction, security analysis and risk management.
