Our busy distribution center in Austin, Texas, is looking for a certified Forklift Operator to join our logistics team. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, store, and retrieve goods within the warehouse. Your role is critical in ensuring the smooth flow of products through our supply chain. The ideal candidate is highly safety-conscious, possesses a valid forklift certification, and has proven experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment. We emphasize adherence to all safety protocols and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) to move, stack, and unstack pallets and materials.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and trailers accurately and safely.
- Transport goods from receiving areas to storage locations and from storage to staging areas for outgoing shipments.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklift equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring clear pathways and proper stacking of materials.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, such as stock checks and location verification.
- Pick and stage orders for shipment according to assigned tasks and priorities.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with other warehouse personnel.
- Contribute to overall warehouse efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a certified forklift operator in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Proven ability to operate various types of forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Thorough understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and good spatial awareness.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Experience with RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow directions.
