Position Details:
- Position Title: Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist
- Position Type: Multiple Positions Available—Permanent and Temporary; Full-time, Part-time, and Casual
- Location: Brentwood, Southwood, Chinook and Kingsland Locations
- Hours of Work: Day Shift
- Union: Out of Scope
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as Therapeutic Services Program Supervisor, responsible for supervising and directing department program assistants and coordinating programs offered by the Therapeutic Services Department.
- Recruit, evaluate, discipline, and terminate (in consultation with the Clinical Team Leader) employees for whom there is direct responsibility, in accordance with the collective agreement and Intercare policies/procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets and ensure the department operates within the material and human resources available.
- Develop and implement physiotherapy programs addressing deficits in physical functioning such as range of motion, strength, ambulation, balance, endurance, pain, and musculoskeletal issues.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and Intercare standards of practice.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists on falls management as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of planned programs and attendance.
- Complete InterRAI MDS assessment elements as appropriate for physiotherapy.
- Participate in the review of triggered RAPS and development of resident care plans consistent with the Collaborative Care Model.
- Provide orientation, support, and training to supervised staff in collaboration with the education team, covering scope of practice, responsibilities, PCC accountabilities, and data entry.
- Review and document resident programs quarterly, making adjustments based on current needs and goals.
- Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Services team to develop meaningful, facility-wide programs.
- Participate in outings and other special events.
- Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
- Document care, programs, and interactions as required in the resident's health care record.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism by interacting calmly and courteously with all customers.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy is required.
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPTA) or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
- Minimum of two years' experience in a continuing care setting preferred.
- Training in rehabilitation, recreation, or nursing-related programs for health care workers is an asset.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Physically and mentally able to perform outlined duties.
- Demonstrates concern for providing a safe and attractive environment for residents, guests, and staff.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member with staff, residents, families, and the public.
