We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is crucial for the efficient processing and dispatch of outgoing shipments. You will be responsible for managing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all orders are processed accurately and on time. A strong commitment to workplace safety , including the proper use of PPE , is essential. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outgoing shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verify accuracy of shipping orders against product loaded.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Track shipments and provide updates to internal departments and customers.
- Operate shipping software and other relevant warehouse management systems.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for proper packaging and labeling.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE .
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks when necessary, involving some manual lifting .
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related shipping/receiving role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common office applications.
- Understanding of shipping procedures and transportation logistics .
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with carriers and internal staff.
- Capability of lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Willingness to follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE .
- Must be reliable and punctual.
