We are seeking a diligent Material Handler to join our logistics team in Portland, Oregon. This role is integral to the efficient operation of our warehouse, involving the movement and organization of materials and products. Your responsibilities will include loading and unloading shipments, stocking inventory, preparing materials for production or shipment, and maintaining an organized and safe work environment. You will work closely with other team members to ensure a seamless flow of goods through our facility. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, requiring consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques. The ideal candidate is physically fit, reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a thriving logistics operation and develop your skills in material handling.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials and products from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials within the warehouse using pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other equipment.
- Stock and organize inventory in designated areas.
- Prepare materials for shipping or production.
- Inspect materials for damage and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Perform other material handling tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a material handler or warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 55 pounds, and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and material handling processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE.
