We are seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments at our Chicago, Illinois distribution center. This role is pivotal in ensuring that orders are accurately picked, packed, and dispatched to customers on time. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping documentation, and maintaining the efficiency of our shipping operations. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding our Safety standards are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Verify outgoing orders against shipping manifests and customer orders.
- Select appropriate packaging materials and pack orders securely to prevent damage during transit.
- Operate shipping software to generate labels and shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading).
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL) for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Load shipments onto trucks, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
- Maintain an organized and clean shipping area.
- Track shipments and provide updates as needed.
- Conduct regular inventory checks within the shipping department.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and Safety guidelines.
- Wear all required PPE , including safety vests and gloves.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer applications.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, and moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Understanding of Logistics and shipping procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Must be safety-conscious and willing to follow all protocols.
