- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
- Required Travel: Travel to all Endeavor Health Hospitals and off sites as required based on Magnet and Nursing Excellence events. Travel to educational opportunities and the annual Magnet Conference.
A Brief Overview:
This key leadership role is primarily responsible for coordinating and facilitating structures and processes that support professional nursing practice, research, evidence-based practice, quality improvement activities intended to improve patient care delivery and/or patient experience. Key components of the role center on leadership, consultation, collaboration, professional communication, project management, program development, analysis of data and oversight of the nursing Shared Decision-Making structure. Ensures the 5 dimensions of Magnet (Empirical Outcomes, Exemplary Professional Practice, Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, and New Knowledge & Innovation) is evident within the organization. The role includes coordinating all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program to maintain all Endeavor Health Magnet designations and future Pathway designation.
What you will do:
- Assumes primary responsibility for leading all aspects of processes related to the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program. Works within Nursing shared decision leadership structure to assure understanding, integration, and organization-wide enculturation of the ANCC Magnet model.
- Serves as liaison to the ANCC. Advisor to nursing leadership to develop and implement strategies and infrastructure to support ongoing preparedness to fully meet Magnet program requirements. Provides expert consultation and leadership to external individuals and other healthcare organizations related to the Magnet program and associated nursing excellence structures, processes, and outcomes. Including the ability to interact on a scholarly level with professional staff and other Magnet Program Directors.
- Provides oversight of collection and submission of National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI)data for strategic nurse sensitive quality indicators and dissemination of outcomes. Analysis of NDNQI data and provide quarterly outcome data to the inpatient nursing departments. Assist local Nursing Practice roles in both the acute care (inpatient) and ambulatory departments to identify their specific nurse sensitive indicators, working collaboratively with the Quality Department to identify appropriate benchmarks to use for comparison.
- Demonstrated skill in the leading and preparation of written documentation in support of Magnet Recognition Program submissions.
- Supports emphasis on evidence-based practice and collaborates with key nursing leaders to integrate focus on performance improvement and operational effectiveness to assure an organizational culture of nursing excellence.
- Demonstrates effective project management and time management skills, professional communications and conflict resolution skills.
- Acts as resource to nursing leadership and stakeholders for interpretation and analysis of data/benchmarks related to both nursing quality indicators and nursing satisfaction.
- Collaborates with Human Recourses Director of Nursing Recruitment, Director of Staffing Office and HIT colleagues in the preparation and submission of Demographic Data Collection Tool (DDCT) to ANCC.
- Provide guidance to Human Resources ANCC requirements related to Nurse Satisfaction Surveys Serves as advisor to unit-based teams to develop an action plan to address nurse satisfaction survey outcomes.
- Provides leadership and support to Nursing Shared Decision-Making councils including oversight, education and mentoring members of the councils.
- Collaborates with Nursing Education & Informatics Council and NPDR to assure an annual education plan for all levels of nursing is established based on an educational needs assessment. Supports activities related to providing education for nurses continued professional development.
- Collaborates with the Research and Innovation Shared Decision-Making Council; tracking current research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects occurring at each hospital.
- Coordinates the periodic review of the Professional Practice Model and the Patient Care Delivery Model with all levels of nursing.
- Assists the CNO's in the identification of the content for the Nursing Annual Report.
- Assists in the development of the annual budget and monitors expenses for the Magnet program and related Magnet activities. Assesses need for resources (personnel, supplies, software and equipment) and keeps cost containment measures on the forefront.
What you will need:
- Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
- Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Required
- Preference given to candidates with demonstrated recent/current experience in a Magnet Program Director role.
- 5+ Years Leadership experience within professional organizations, committees, councils promoting the advancement of nursing.
- Demonstrated clinical nursing expertise with a minimum of three years of nursing experience in a clinical practice setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ANA standards of practice and professional performance and their integration in evidence-based practice.
- Knowledge of ANCC Magnet Model structure and application of the model's components within a healthcare organization. Working knowledge of change management theory, systems thinking, analytical methodology for outcomes evaluation, and performance improvement.
- Proven leadership abilities with evidence of successful project management and interpersonal skills; openly seeks innovative approaches for process development and improvement. Strong foundational knowledge of statistics and data management. Sound critical thinking skills. Ability to provide self-direction and independent decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in computer operation with ability to abstract from clinical data and provide analysis; systematic ability to formulate reports, interpret data, and problem solve.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with employees throughout all levels of the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage in dialogue with diverse healthcare audiences.
- Commitment to teamwork; ability to work with others to set and accomplish goals through collaboration and coordination.
- Advanced presentation skills to provide education related to nursing excellence and the Magnet program to audiences at all levels throughout the organization; ability to evaluate audience needs and modify programs to best meet organizational needs.
- Endeavor Health ANCC Magnet Program Director (MPD) for identified entity.
- Travel to all Endeavor Health Hospital and off sites as required based on Magnet and Nursing Excellence events.
- Travel to educational opportunities and the annual Magnet Conference.
- Nursing administration/executive certification or other clinical nursing specialty certification. If current certification is within clinical nursing specialty, then nursing administration/executive certification or one applicable to Magnet or Nursing Excellence is required within 12 months of assuming role.
