*Key Responsibilities*
* Oversee unit operations and act as the primary point of contact for clinical and administrative concerns.
* Assign patient care responsibilities based on acuity, staffing skill mix, and workflow demands.
* Support and mentor nursing staff, providing education, feedback, and real-time guidance.
* Facilitate communication among surgeons, nurses (bedside and sedation), and other departments to ensure cohesive care.
* Assist with orientation and training of new clinical staff members.
*Pre-Operative Duties*
* Coordinate patient flow into Pre-Op to prevent delays in surgical schedules.
* Ensure completion of pre-operative assessments, documentation, consent forms, and required tests.
* Verify patient readiness for surgery, including NPO status, IV access, medication reconciliation, and safety protocols.
* Collaborate with anesthesia providers to address pre-op concerns or special needs.
* Provide support to staff performing pre-operative teaching and patient/family education.
*Post-Operative / PACU Duties*
* Supervise PACU nurses in monitoring and recovering patients from anesthesia, ensuring airway safety, hemodynamic stability, and pain control.
* Review and ensure completion of PACU documentation, postoperative assessments, and discharge readiness criteria.
* Coordinate transfer of patients from recovery to discharge, or inpatient units.
* Facilitate prompt response to postoperative complications or emergencies, supporting staff with clinical decision-making.
* Ensure safe handoff communication during transitions of care.
*Patient Safety & Compliance*
* Promote adherence to evidence-based practices, infection control standards, and practice policies.
* Monitor compliance with surgical safety checklists, medication administration guidelines, and PACU protocols.
* Participate in performance improvement initiatives and incident review processes.
* Ensure proper functioning of equipment, supplies, and emergency resources in Pre-Op and PACU.
*Qualifications*
* Registered Nurse (RN) license.
* BSN preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
* Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience in perioperative, PACU, or critical care environments.
* Previous charge, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
* Current BLS and ACLS required

* Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
* Ability to remain calm during high-stress situations
* Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), Epic experience is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
