Due to tremendous growth, EBC's Building Group is looking to add a Director of Business Development to the team.
The Director of Business Development is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth through the development of strategic client relationships and the pursuit of high-quality Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional construction projects across Ontario. This role focuses on identifying opportunities, building trusted partnerships with owners, developers, consultants, and public agencies, and securing profitable, repeat business aligned with the company's long-term growth strategy.
The ideal candidate is a proven relationship builder with a strong network in the ICI market and a consistent track record of winning negotiated and competitive ICI work.
- Develop and execute a focused ICI business development strategy to grow revenue and market share across Ontario.
- Identify new ICI market opportunities including healthcare, education, commercial office, mixed-use, industrial facilities, retail, and institutional infrastructure.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and client pipelines to position the company for sustained growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to align ICI pursuits with corporate strategic objectives.
Client & Consultant Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with:
- Private developers and asset owners
- Institutional clients (healthcare, education, municipal, crown agencies)
- Architects, engineers, and consultants
- Act as a senior representative of the company at industry events, client meetings, and networking functions.
- Develop early engagement relationships to influence projects at the pre-design and conceptual stages.
- Drive repeat business with key ICI clients.
ICI Pursuit Leadership & Revenue Generation
- Act as EBC representative during pursuit lifecycle for projects, including RFQs, RFPs, and negotiated opportunities.
- Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline and pursuit forecast.
- Work closely with Estimating, Preconstruction, and Operations to develop competitive win strategies.
- Participate in interview strategies, client presentations, and negotiations.
- Secure profitable, strategically aligned ICI revenue.
Marketing & Brand Positioning
- Provide leadership input into ICI marketing strategies, qualifications, and proposal content.
- Strengthen the company's market presence and brand within the ICI sector.
- Support development of project profiles, case studies, and client success stories.
Internal Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with Operations and Preconstruction to align client expectations with delivery capabilities.
- Mentor business development and marketing team members, where applicable.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for ICI growth, win rates, and pipeline performance.
- Provide regular market intelligence and revenue forecasting to executive leadership.
Requirements
- 10–15+ years of business development, client development, or senior sales experience in Ontario ICI construction.
- Demonstrated success winning ICI projects in:
- Commercial
- Institutional
- Industrial sectors
- Strong, established network across owners, developers, architects, engineers, and institutional clients.
- Extensive knowledge of ICI procurement models:
- Design-Build
- Construction Management (CM)
- Design-Bid-Build
- IPD and negotiated work
- Strong understanding of preconstruction, estimating, and construction operations.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
- Valid Ontario driver's license and flexibility to travel within the province
