Position Description
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Junior Interior Designer will support hospitality-focused interior design projects by contributing to concept development, documentation, and project execution. The role involves collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, innovative design solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work in-store as a bubble tea barista
- Collaborate with the team lead throughout the design development process, from concept to construction, ensuring the design aligns with project objectives.
- Working closely with a team leads to maintaining design integrity, budget compliance, and project schedules.
- Draft and prepare FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) plans and specifications for coordination with vendors.
- Attend client meetings alongside senior colleagues, serving as a professional and effective presenter and representative.
- Coordinate efficiently with local suppliers, project consultants, client representatives, and internal team members to achieve project milestones.
- Provide space planning under guidance, ensuring functional requirements and design considerations meet local building code standards.
- Produce design development and contract documents, primarily using AutoCAD.
- Creating mood boards, sketches, and initial 3D visuals (3D Max, Enscape or Rhino software...) to define the design direction.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation for the selection, specification, procurement, and installation of furnishings and equipment, including detailed layout drawings and schedules.
- Consistently meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and quality of all work produced.
- Maintain a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Perform on-site work as required to support project execution and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in Canada and USA construction codes and regulations.
- Passionate, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Willingness to travel as required for projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin/Cantonese (written and verbal) is an asset
