À propos
We bring together the brightest quantum engineers, integrated circuit (IC) engineers, quantum computing theoreticians and software engineers to create a unique, world-leading team, working together closely to maximise our combined expertise. Our collaborative and interdisciplinary culture is an ideal fit for anyone who thrives in a cutting‑edge research and development environment focused on tackling big challenges and contributing to the development of scalable quantum computers based on silicon technology.
Our team of 100+ is based in Oxford and London, with a centre of mass in our Islington lab.
Our Team Quantum Motion is a fast‑growing quantum computing scale‑up based in London. We are developing quantum processors based on industrial‑grade silicon chips, with the potential to radically transform computing power in areas such as materials modelling, medicine, artificial intelligence and more.
Functions of the Role As a Senior Quantum Design Engineer , you will drive the design of silicon spin qubit‑based QPUs with integrated control and readout. You will play a key role in establishing robust, industry‑standard design methodologies while ensuring seamless integration across quantum devices, control electronics, and system architecture. Collaboration with diverse experts across quantum device physics, IC design, cryogenics, process integration, and system integration is essential as you tape‑out devices ranging from proof‑of‑concept test vehicles to large‑scale, highly manufacturable quantum processors.
Contribute to the design of QPUs and 3D integrated systems – including layout, simulation, and verification – from concept definition to tape‑out.
Implement fully verified (e.g., DRC, LVS), detailed chip and mask layouts for tape‑out on schedule.
Perform EM simulations and develop models for processor components.
Develop hardware design methodologies, infrastructure, and PDK to align with industry‑standard engineering practices, such as PCells, and automated layout and verification.
Collaborate with fellow designers and integrators to optimise device manufacturability.
Collaborate with experimentalists to correlate experimental data to models.
Communicate effectively across diverse expertise, ensuring shared understanding and smooth project execution.
Provide and maintain tape‑out schedule.
Document work and perform design reviews.
