We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of all outgoing shipments. Your duties will include verifying order accuracy, selecting appropriate packaging materials, generating shipping labels, and coordinating with carriers. A strong commitment to safety and efficiency is paramount. You will play a crucial part in the outbound flow of our products, ensuring they reach our customers in excellent condition. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be working closely with other members of the warehouse team to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities:
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing orders against shipping documents.
- Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure product safety during transit.
- Generate accurate shipping labels and documentation for all outbound shipments.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS).
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS) as required.
- Conduct quality checks on packaged items before shipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques.
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times in designated areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation as needed.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or administrative role within a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Proficiency with computers, including MS Office and shipping software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions carefully.
- Familiarity with different shipping carriers and their requirements.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Understanding of basic warehouse safety principles.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.
