We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Forklift Operator to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the movement of materials within our warehouse, ensuring the efficient flow of goods for our clients. Your responsibilities will include operating forklifts to transport, stack, and retrieve inventory, as well as loading and unloading shipments. A strong focus on safety, precision, and efficiency is essential. We are looking for a reliable individual with excellent forklift operation skills and a commitment to upholding workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts, including various types such as reach trucks and pallet jacks.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles and ensure proper staging of goods.
- Move and organize inventory within the warehouse racking system.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklift equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with put-away and picking of inventory as required.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines, including the consistent use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, free from obstructions.
- Support shipping and receiving functions to ensure timely order processing.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals.
Requirements:
- Valid forklift operator certification and demonstrable experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a commercial warehouse setting.
- Ability to perform lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Thorough knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and the mandatory use of PPE.
- Understanding of inventory control and logistics principles.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a cooperative team.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Dependability and punctuality are critical.
