Our Omaha, Nebraska facility is looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team. This position is responsible for the accurate and efficient preparation of all outgoing shipments. You will be crucial in ensuring that orders are packed correctly, labeled accurately, and dispatched to the correct destinations on time. Your role involves coordinating with shipping carriers, maintaining shipping records, and ensuring that all shipments meet quality and regulatory standards. We maintain a strong focus on workplace safety, requiring adherence to all safety guidelines and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This role is vital for ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and accurate deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy in items and quantities.
- Package items securely and appropriately for various shipping methods.
- Generate shipping labels and relevant documentation (e.g., bills of lading).
- Schedule pickups with shipping carriers.
- Verify that all outgoing shipments match order details.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and records.
- Communicate with internal teams and external carriers regarding shipment status.
- Inspect outgoing packages for damage or defects.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a shipping clerk or in a warehouse shipping department preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of logistics and shipping procedures.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier portals is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety practices and the use of PPE.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
