*Job Overview*
VTG is seeking a _*Senior Test Engineer/Hands-on Lead Automation Test Engineer *_to work in the _*Quantico/Stafford VA*_ office.
This is a *hands-on technical leadership role*. The Lead Automation Test Engineer will actively design, build, and execute automated tests while providing day-to-day technical leadership across testing activities and driving the transition from a primarily manual testing approach to a robust, scalable automated testing strategy. This individual will play a key role in implementing testing best practices across functional, system, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
*Duties*
* Serves as a hands-on lead directly designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks.
* Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts across applications, services, and APIs
* Coordinate with stakeholders and technical teams to identify and prioritize automation needs.
* Review and analyze test automation results to ensure software quality.
* Mentor and train junior test engineers through direct code reviews, pairing, and hands-on guidance in automation tools and best practices.
* Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
* Continuously monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of test automation processes.
* Perform testing activities to ensure proper tracking and completion each Sprint and overall release
* Write and revise test-related management plans and formal test Procedures
* Conduct comprehensive API testing
* Collaborate with developers during the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) to ensure quality standards are met through continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines
* Participate in requirements gathering, review test plans, and contribute to process improvements aligned with Agile methodologies
* Support system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) phases; provide technical support during deployment cycles.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends in software testing, automation frameworks, and emerging technologies such as DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud services.
*Required Skills*
* US citizenship with active *Top Secret* clearance.
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience, including significant hands-on automation and technical leadership responsibility.
* Strong expertise in test automation frameworks and methodologies, including regression, system, functional, and performance testing.
* Extensive experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, and scripting languages.
* Extensive experience in API testing.
* Strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
*Desired Skills*
* _Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field._
* Experience with Agile Development / Scrum framework
* Experience with Jira

Pay: Up to $130,000.00 per year
