About Whitby Swimming
Whitby Swimming is one of the fastest-growing competitive clubs in Durham Region, serving more than 175 athletes ranging from pre-competitive swimmers to provincial and national performers. With the new North Whitby Sports Complex opening in early 2026, we are entering a major expansion phase and are strengthening our coaching team to meet increasing demand and elevate program excellence.
We are a club with momentum, a unified coaching philosophy, and a supportive board that is committed to building a high-performance pathway while keeping athlete joy and long-term development at the centre of everything we do.
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious coach who wants to contribute to a growing program, shape swimmer development, and advance their own coaching career in a supportive environment.
What This Role Offers
- A stable, professionally-run program with an experienced Head Coach.
- A lead role in one or more competitive training groups.

- Coaching development support, including NCCP and CSCA courses.
- Minimal administrative burden — our leadership and admin volunteers support non-coaching tasks so coaches can focus on coaching.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead 1–2 competitive groups, including planning season structure, practices, and competition schedules.
- Deliver engaging, technically sound, age-appropriate coaching at practices and meets.
- Track athlete progress, attendance, and performance; support athletes in goal-setting and long-term development.
- Communicate professionally with athletes, families, and staff.
- Contribute to team culture and club-wide initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Head Coach on overall program development.
Qualifications
- NCCP Swimming 101 certified (Swim Ontario Fundamental Coach Certification)
- Experience coaching age group or youth competitive swimmers.
- Strong technical knowledge in all strokes and youth training principles.
- Good communicator with strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a coaching team.
- Experience as a competitive swimmer an asset.
- CSCA member (or willing to become one).
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
