Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining and improving WAG-Qaumajuq's facilities. Reporting to the Head of Museum Services & Building Operations, this position is responsible for performing maintenance tasks, assisting with custodial duties, and ensuring the premises are prepared for visitors and events. The role requires attention to detail, a proactive approach to building care, and a commitment to providing a positive visitor experience.
Hours of Work: Part-time (Up to 17.5 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance services and minor repairs as required.
- Ensure snow clearing and landscaping needs are addressed daily.
- Safely clean and store tools and equipment.
- Assist with facility setup for rental events (tables and chairs).
- Support a positive visitor experience across all areas of the Gallery.
- Uphold equity and anti-racism principles through ongoing education, bias awareness, and application of organizational policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum two years' experience in a maintenance role.
- Valid Manitoba driver's license with a clear record.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
- Availability for any 5 mornings per week.
Assets:
- Bilingual (English/French or English/Inuktitut).
- First Aid Certification.
