Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Contract Administrator to join our team in Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing construction projects, confirming compliance with contract terms, and maintaining effective communication between stakeholders. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in contract administration, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team of inspectors. Applicants must be willing and able to travel to project locations across Northern Ontario. Additional Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a team of inspectors to monitor project progress and quality
- Review and approve contractor submissions and payment certificates
- Review project schedules and identify any schedule slippage proactively
- Review compensation requests and change order submissions and negotiate with the Contractor
- Maintain accurate and up to date filing system of project documentation.
- Facilitate communication between contractors, clients, and stakeholders to resolve issues effectively
- Chair project progress meetings and produce accurate meeting minutes
- Prepare and maintain a daily diary in accordance with the Construction Administration and Inspection Specifications (CAIS)
- Verifying compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental regulations
- Coordination of onsite sub-consultants and quality assurance material testing
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Contract Administrator in construction or infrastructure projects
- Degree or Diploma in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and/or combination of related experience
- Successful Completion of MTO T131 Advanced Claims and Dispute Resolution Training Course
- Registered with PEO as a P.Eng. or with OACETT as Road Construction Contract Administrator (rcca)
- Knowledge of applicable design standards, OPS specifications, standard drawings, and quality control / quality assurance material testing methods.
- Knowledge of the application of transportation construction practices and methods including the applicable quality assurance procedures
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders
- Proven analytical skills for assessing claims and disputes. Proven negotiation skills
- Experience working on projects in remote or northern locations is an asset
- Proficiency in contract management software (Kahua, Builterra, etc.) is preferred
- Ability to utilize computer software such as MS Word and Excel
- Valid class G driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Ability to lift 25 kg
