, a leader in food manufacturing, import, and distribution, is seeking a Senior Accountant (Team Lead) to lead our lean finance operations, manage and supervise a small team, and drive hands-on financial processes to support the company's continued growth. This full-time, fully in-person role in Woodbridge (Vaughan) - Greater Toronto Area, Canada offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while contributing to strategic financial decision-making.

With opportunities for advancement in our growing company, you'll oversee the finance function, managing and supervising our small team (AP/AR accountants) while being hands-on, working side-by-side on execution tasks, and reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Finance / Accounting Operations & Financial Oversight
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and analyses to support decision-making.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records while maintaining compliance with accounting principles.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. * Lead, manage, and supervise our small finance team on daily operations, providing guidance while actively participating in hands-on tasks.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and present financial reports for senior management, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations, including corporate tax filings and HST remittances.
- Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring audit readiness.
- Cash Flow & Financial Planning
- Monitor cash flow and provide recommendations to ensure financial stability.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning with senior management.
- Provide financial insights to help optimize company performance.
- Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and financial reporting systems.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Finance on special projects.
- Support the implementation of new accounting software or financial tools as required.
- Organize regular team meetings to review performance and identify process improvements.
- Credit Management & Risk Assessment
- Evaluate and recommend credit terms for new and existing customers based on financial analysis.
- Manage credit limits, payment terms, and collections, ensuring strong customer relationships.
- Monitor and mitigate credit risk exposure while maintaining a healthy cash flow.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team management and supervisory roles, preferably in manufacturing, production, distribution, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations.
- CPA designation
(preferred). - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Spire, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and MS Office Suite (Excel).
- Experience with month-end closures, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a small team in a hands-on environment, performing tasks alongside team members without relying on extensive support staff.
Job Type:
