Job Summary
St. Charles Village is looking for an experienced Dietary Manager to lead the kitchen operations with a focus on creating an exceptional dining experience for our residents.
In the role of the Dietary Manager you would be expected to work Monday-Friday 8 hour shifts between 6:30 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. with the possibility of being scheduled every second weekend 8 hour shifts between 6:30 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. This is a 40 hour per week position.
Responsibilities
- Red Seal Certification or equivalent work experience is a must
- Dedicating at least 75% of your time cooking with hands-on food preparation, you will also be responsible the other 25% of your time to preparing and maintaining required reports ensuring they remain up-to-date and are accurate
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Hire, Supervise, Guide, Evaluate and Manage kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service. Assessing team performance to meet quality expectations and dietary objectives are met
- Create seasonal menus including recipes and food production to meet dietary requirements while managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs.
- Ensure meals are prepared from scratch and served hot, fresh and appetizing to the palate and visually appealing to the eyes
- Maintain a high level of focus on resident and team satisfaction
- Maintain inventory of food supplies and order as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Implement and monitor food safety protocols to comply with health regulations.
- Establish, implement and enforce Dietary department policies and procedures
- Train staff on proper food handling techniques and kitchen equipment operation.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas.
- Able to balance multi-tasking and adapting to changes including problem solving
Experience
- Proven experience in team management within a food service or restaurant environment.
- At least 3-5 years of retirement kitchen management experience
- Background in kitchen operations, including food preparation is a must
- Familiarity with retirement dining management practices is an asset
- Strong supervisory skills to lead a diverse team effectively
- Knowledge of dietary guidelines and nutrition is beneficial.
This is a salaried position where you will be expected to cook 75% of the time and complete administrative functions 25% of the time. Please be aware that St. Charles Village does not offer a benefit package.
