The newly formed ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) Scalability team is focused on a simple mission statement, which is to apply our Software Engineering expertise to improve the scalability of our ASR platform, in particular to reduce the time and effort required to onboard new partners and products. In this role, you will lead a team of 2 Software Engineers, and cooperate with the ASR Modelling team, to identify and alleviate key bottlenecks limiting our ability to scale. This would be a great opportunity for a first-time manager to take on a small team while still working in the code.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of 2 Software Engineers to improve scalability and reliability of our ASR modelling platform and workflows
• Have positive impact both as a Manager and as an individual technical contributor

What You'll Bring

• You have at least 3+ years experience using Python for critical systems
• You are adept with all aspects of web development, including service-oriented architecture, TypeScript, React, and relational databases
• You have experience preparing system architecture diagrams and phased delivery plans for complex projects
• You are able to balance making positive impact both as an individual technical contributor and by delegating to and supporting other contributors
• You are passionate about taking initiative to identify and alleviate bottlenecks that limit ability to scale
• You are adept at establishing agreements and commitments on proposed system and workflow changes

Nice-to-Have:

• You have experience working directly with ML Engineers to support efforts related to model deployment, performance benchmarking, and workflow optimization and automation
• You have experience working on software systems or tools that process audio data
• You have experience using Docker and Kubernetes to automate deployments
• You have experience with Airflow for workflow automation

Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Toronto office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled "core days" each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration.Compensation includes salary, equity, comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and other benefits.
