Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately processed, documented, and dispatched. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the shipping process from preparation to final delivery confirmation, maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. A strong understanding of logistics, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are essential. Proper use of PPE will be expected at all times.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare shipping documents, bills of lading, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Verify that all outgoing orders are correct and match shipping manifests.
  • Package items securely for shipment, ensuring they are protected during transit.
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
  • Operate shipping software and maintain accurate shipping records.
  • Inspect outgoing shipments for quality and accuracy before dispatch.
  • Communicate with customers regarding shipping status and any potential delays.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and safe shipping area.
  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures, including those related to lifting and handling of goods.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is used when handling specific materials or operating machinery.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role is required.
  • Familiarity with shipping software and logistics processes.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to perform lifting of up to 30 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
