Are you an experienced Forklift Operator looking for a new challenge in Richmond, Virginia? We are seeking a certified and safety-conscious individual to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment within our busy distribution center. This role is vital for the efficient movement of goods, ensuring timely loading and unloading of trucks, and accurate stocking of inventory. You will be part of a dedicated logistics team focused on maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety. This is a great opportunity to utilize your skills in a key position.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up) safely and efficiently to move materials.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with precision.
- Transport materials from receiving to storage areas and vice versa.
- Stack and arrange inventory in designated locations, ensuring stability and accessibility.
- Perform pre-operation checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stocktaking.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment according to established procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Understand and adhere to all logistics and warehouse operational standards.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification (e.g., OSHA compliant).
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Ability to perform lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain operations is beneficial.
- Willingness to wear and maintain required PPE.
