Our Kansas City, Missouri distribution center is looking for an efficient and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team. This role is essential for managing the outbound process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in every shipment. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining organized records. If you possess strong organizational skills and a background in shipping or logistics, this is an excellent career opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and process all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, and tracking labels.
- Communicate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring on-time service.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments against order details.
- Inspect packages for damage and ensure proper packaging standards are met.
- Maintain meticulous records of all outgoing shipments for inventory and auditing purposes.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks as required.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including proper lifting techniques.
- Consistently wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Support the logistics team in managing warehouse inventory flow.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the shipping department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping clerk role, logistics, or related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in shipping software and common computer applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Understanding of safe lifting practices.
- Knowledge of carrier requirements and shipping procedures.
- Willingness to use required PPE.
- Strong communication and problem-solving capabilities.
