We are looking for an organized and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our team at our New York City, New York location. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing all outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy, and preparing necessary documentation. This role is critical to our logistics operations, bridging the gap between warehouse fulfillment and final delivery. You will interact with carriers, verify shipping details, and ensure that all packages meet carrier requirements. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is paramount. Your role contributes directly to timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Process and document all outgoing shipments.
- Verify shipping addresses and order details for accuracy.
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL freight) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Inspect packages for damage before shipment.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the shipping log.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Proper use of PPE is mandatory in the shipping area.
- Communicate with internal teams (e.g., sales, warehouse) regarding shipment status.
- Assist with receiving incoming shipments as needed.
- Contribute to efficient warehouse logistics by ensuring smooth outbound flow.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a shipping clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, email).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of warehouse operations.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage.
