Job Description Join our dynamic team as a Hardware Design Engineer, where your expertise in developing cutting-edge automotive Digital Key systems will be invaluable. We are looking for a skilled individual with a solid background in system architecture, schematic design, and multi-layer PCB layout, especially in systems utilizing BLE and UWB technology. The Role: The Hardware Design Engineer will take the lead in designing schematics, PCB layouts, validating performance, and troubleshooting hardware components and systems integral to Digital Key technologies across our vehicle range. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration and product management, to devise secure and dependable Digital Key solutions while aiding in the development of future technology roadmaps. What You'll Do: Manage schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs for high-performance hardware designs. Create complex multi-layer PCB layouts focused on signal and power integrity. Work with cross-functional teams to align design specifications with system requirements. Conduct signal and power integrity analysis involving grounding and trace routing. Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to optimize designs for production. Formulate test strategies to validate the reliability and performance of designs. Oversee design revisions and implement improvements on existing systems. Provide technical support during prototype builds and address design-related challenges. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Guide suppliers throughout the development lifecycle. Report to senior leaders on project progress and any roadblocks encountered. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of hardware design and testing experience, ideally from the automotive or consumer electronics sectors. Thorough knowledge of BLE, UWB, NFC, and related short-range wireless technologies. Experience with CCC/Apple Car Keys/MFi/NFC Forum specifications. Proficient in PCB design tools like Mentor Graphics, Altium, Eagle, or KiCad. Familiarity with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.). Solid understanding of embedded systems and low-power design methodologies. Knowledge of wireless connectivity protocols and best practices for coexistence. Familiarity with automotive-grade components and relevant environmental constraints. Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and reliability engineering practices. Understanding automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet. Ability to apply EMC/EMI principles and regulatory standards. Strong analytical skills to tackle complex hardware and system challenges. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across various disciplines. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field. Experience with secure hardware design, including TPMs and cryptographic elements. Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity standards. Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and testability (DFT). Familiarity with vehicle integration, HIL systems, and testing processes. Knowledge of OTA updates and secure hardware provisioning mechanisms. Background in working with global suppliers and hardware development. Understanding of digital key ecosystems and secure communication protocols. Compensation: The expected base compensation range for this role is $103,000 - $157,900, which may vary based on relevant factors. Bonus Potential:
