Our Grand Rapids, Michigan distribution center is looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our essential logistics team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving, organizing, and preparing materials and products within the warehouse. This role is crucial for maintaining workflow and ensuring timely order fulfillment. You will operate material handling equipment, assist with loading and unloading trucks, and contribute to the overall organization of the facility. Safety is a core value; adherence to all safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This physically demanding job requires strength, stamina, and the ability to handle significant lifting and repetitive motion.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Load and unload trucks and containers.
- Move materials from receiving to storage, and from storage to shipping.
- Organize and maintain warehouse inventory.
- Assist with inventory counts and accuracy checks.
- Ensure all materials are properly secured for transport within the warehouse.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and warehouse procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is a strong plus.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Must be able to lift and move items up to 75 lbs.
- Comfortable performing physical tasks, including frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations is beneficial.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
