We are seeking a skilled and certified Forklift Operator to join our logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving materials, loading and unloading trucks, and transporting goods within our warehouse facilities. You will operate various types of forklifts, ensuring precise handling of inventory. This position requires a keen understanding of warehouse operations, excellent spatial awareness, and a strong commitment to safety. You will perform pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure it is in safe working order. Adherence to all safety regulations, including proper traffic management within the warehouse and the consistent use of appropriate PPE, is mandatory. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on forklifts.
- Follow all warehouse safety regulations and procedures, including strict adherence to PPE requirements.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated storage areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and record keeping.
- Operate other material handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management immediately.
Qualifications:
Valid forklift operator certification. Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse environment. Strong knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices, including the mandatory use of PPE. Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics setting. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with WMS is a plus. Must be comfortable working in varying warehouse temperatures.
