DDP Technology Inc. is currently looking for a full-time Utility Pole inspector/Electrical Inspector to join our growing team. We are an established company who performs inspection and maintenance services for utility companies across Southern Ontario.
Applicant's must be able to work four 11-hour shifts per week and be comfortable driving to locations across the GTHA (Greater Toronto and Hamilton area). Valid G class license with a minimum of 3 years experience required.
Job Summary
Responsible for assessing the condition of utility poles, identifying any defects or damage, and drill testing wood poles. Additionally, you will be required to visually inspect high voltage electrical assets, including distribution systems to ensure compliance with regulations as well as identify potential hazards.
Key Responsibilities and duties:
Map utility poles and locate them using GPS
Perform visual inspection and inventory utility poles based on map assignments
Perform testing of wood utility poles using a provided measuring device
Identify overhead electrical components of distribution structures
Collect and record data on all overhead electrical components such as type, size, height, owner, ETC
Perform data collection utilizing approved collection materials
Visual inspections on high voltage electrical equipment
Identify potential hazards
Capture and document non-compliance issues, including photographs, descriptions, and technical references.
Complete daily maintenance checks on vehicle and notify manager of any issues
Ensure transportation to and from work sites is performed in a safe and timely manner
Perform and share duties with the Lead hand/Inspector at traffic set up as per Book 7 and/or the Traffic Plan
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
Ability to identify and resolve issues, think critically, and make sound decisions
Ability to prioritize tasks
The ability to work independently without direct supervision while maintaining good time management skills
Be comfortable driving in inclement weather, such as light snow and rain
Familiarity with GPS and mobile app devices
Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
Able to lift up to 70 lbs.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, or another field of education relevant to the duties of the position
Provide a clean driver's abstract and Police check
Valid G class license with a minimum of 3 years experience required.
Must have your own CSA Approved Work Boots. Any additional required PPE will be provided for you.
Experience on a vehicle between 4,500-11,001 kgs would be considered an asset
First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and Working at Heights certifications would also be considered an asset; however, training may be provided for the right individual.
