Job Summary:

The PLC Controls Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing electrical and automation projects, including PLC programming, control system design, and integration, troubleshooting plant equipment. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. The position requires strong technical expertise in industrial automation and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contractors.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and controls projects from concept to completion.
• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Design and implement PLC-based control systems for industrial equipment.
• Oversee electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure integration of automation systems with existing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
• Manage contractors and vendors for electrical installations and commissioning.
• Ensure adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies in PLC and electrical systems.
• Maintain high levels of 5S in within defined work and storage area/s.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering and/or PLC controls.
• Proven experience with project management and budgeting.
• Proficiency in PLC programming with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, VFD Control, advanced motion control.
• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards
• Strong project management and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong independent worker with a proactive mindset.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Ability to work various shifts when needed.
